In Carrollton, Texas, Western Extrusions manufactures aluminum – from the extrusion process through to delivery. Its facility, which in 1979 covered only 49,000 square feet, has now grown to 750,000 square feet. With the goal of sharing this success with its community, Western Extrusions extends its support to charitable organizations such as Momentous Institute.
Momentous Institute was established in 1920 and since that time has been providing educational and therapeutic services to children. With the support of private individuals and community leaders, the organization was able to establish two lab schools and train 5,000 professionals in trauma-informed care.
One of the organization’s training events, “Love & Wisdom in a Time of Stress,” will discuss the topic of ‘mindfulness’ and its implications to parenting and education. The session will be conducted by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., founder of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Elissa Epel, from University of California San Francisco’s Department of Psychiatry, will also be joining the training session.
“Love & Wisdom in a Time of Stress” will be held on March 28, 2017.
